Personality; L is a quiet and reserved person. Never having any friends growing up, he finds it incredibly difficult to deal with people one-on-one. While having immense book knowledge, he has next to no social skills. When presented with a situation that is incredibly social (a party, for example) he will clam up and probably huddle off in a corner alone.

Though there is part of him that does some times strive for a relationship. If he encounters someone who he sees as an intellectual equal, he will become interested in that person and want to spend time with them.

Results of Experimentation; Due to his high intelligence, the school decided to do anything much to him aside from increase his five senses to a higher point.

History; L, born 'Lyonel', is one in a pair of twins born to wealthy parents. He is the older, and more healthy of the pair. As a result of this, Lyonel was favored highly above his brother Bernard (Who would later come to call himself by the single letter 'B')

L's parents showered him with praise and love but it didn't come free. Ever since he was old enough to speak, L was pushed harder and harder. If he made a B, his parents wanted an A. If he made an A, his parents wanted an A+. He was thrust in to as many extracuricular activities as he had possible time for.

As a result of this, L often went many nights sleepless. With his busy schedule, he never had time for friends and quickly became a social outcast. And, because he had no time, his brother wound up mostly forgotten. Even when Bernard began to imitate everything L did, L hardly noticed. He was just always far too busy.

When he was a Junior in high school, his parents heard of a very exclusive boarding school in America called "Saint Ambrose" and they sent him there without second thought, hoping to increase his knowledge even further.
